Chevening offers one year fully funded scholarships to professionals from all over the world to pursue a master’s degree in any subject at any of the pre-chosen UK university. This scholarship grants you an unprecedented lifetime experience leaving you free to focus on your academic pursuit and excellence whereby you will develop academically as well as grow your network while experiencing the outstanding UK culture. Chevening scholarship will provide grants and up to 1,500 scholarships to outstanding students worldwide.
Chevening scholarship provides financial support to study for a postgraduate/master’s degree at any of the UK’s leading universities and the opportunity to become part of an influential global network of about 44,000 alumni. These Scholarships are granted across a wide spectrum of fields including science, engineering, politics, economy, government, business, the media, the environment, civil society, and religion in any of the universities in the UK.
Chevening calls for the application of the 2021/2022 scholarship as these funds are established for students who wish to pursue a master’s degree programme in any field of choice at any university in the UK.
The 2020/2021 Chevening Scholarship covers:
- Full payment of tuition fees;
- Flight expenses- travel to and from your country of residence after scholarship tenure ends;
- An arrival allowance;
- Financial provision for the cost of preparation of a thesis or dissertation (if required);
- An excess baggage allowance;
- The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application for you only;
- Accommodation allowance and monthly stipends- personal allowance to cover accommodation and living expenses which will depend on whether you are studying inside or outside London. It is currently £917 per month outside London and £1134 per month inside London (subject to annual review);
- A travel grant to attend one of the Chevening event in the UK.
Eligibility Criteria for the CHEVENING 2021/2022 Scholarship
Interested candidates must be citizens of Chevening-eligible countries. Candidates from all the developing countries worldwide are eligible to apply.
Candidates must meet the Chevening English Language requirement by 15th of July, 2021 if there is no proof of English language proficiency.
Interested applicants must have completed a first degree in a recognized institution with an equivalent of a second Class upper 2:1 honors to enable you enter a post graduate/Master’s program in the UK university as at the time of submitting this application. This may vary depending on the choice of course and university.
Applicants must have at least two years of work experience equivalent to 2800 hours.
Successful candidates must return to their country of application/citizenship for a minimum of two years after the scholarship has ended.
Interested applicants must apply to three different UK universities and must have received an unconditionally offer from one of the applied universities by 15th July, 2021
Applicants who are not eligible:
Those who have previously studied in the UK under a UK government scholarship.
Those who are employees, former employees, or relatives of an employee (since July 2018) of Her Majesty’s Government (including British embassies/high commissions; the Department for International Development; the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy; Department for International Trade; the Ministry of Defence; and the Home Office), or a staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Employees, former employees, or relatives of an employee (since July 2018) of Chevening Partner organisations are eligible to apply, but cannot receive a Chevening Partner Award from the organisation from which they work, previously worked, or are affiliated with through relatives
Those holding British or dual British citizenship.
Applicants who hold a refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country but those holding a citizenship in a Chevening eligible country but also hold a refugee status in Chevening eligible country are eligible to apply.

Step 1: Create account
Eligible candidates are advised to visit the website here to fill and create their profile after which you validate your data, an email bearing the confirmation link to set up password will be sent to the registered email. Kindly confirm link and set up a password.
Step 2: Apply for Scholarship
This scholarship requires candidates to submit their applications through an online application system. The online system is utilized by applicants throughout the application duration and also during the selection process. It may require you to log out and log in to continue your application and receive updates on your application status or submit documents at different intervals at your own leisure during the application process.
Start application by choosing your choice of scholarship, complete quiz to ascertain your eligibility of the scholarship and fill the application with the required data.
Step 3: Submit Required Documents
- Original documents of education
- Identity documents
- School transcripts
- Prior-school transcripts (only if requested)
- English Language qualification
- Conditional offers for proposed courses of study (3)
- At least one unconditional offers for proposed courses of study which must be uploaded by 15th July 2021
Step 4: Submit application
Note: To stand a chance for qualification, applicants are advised to:
Select full time courses which are taught and not research Master’s programmes and must start in the autumn term (September/October, 2021).
Select courses which will lead to Master’s degree qualification.
Select courses which are taught in the UK universities.
Not select part time or distance learning courses.
Not to select courses that are less than nine months in duration but 12 months in duration.
The selection of the scholars of Chevening scholarships usually takes a minimum of eight months from the time of application deadline.
The Chevening scholarship is being funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. It offers two types of awards– Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships– for which British embassies personally select the recipients and high commissions worldwide.
